Title Race

Now it’s all on with 10 points separating the top five positions. Although Chelsea are now creating a continuously bigger gap between first and second with six points between them and Liverpool. However, it’s hard to say with nineteen matches still left in the season, it’s anyone’s’ trophy. And with the transfer season a couple of days away any team can pull through and clinch the championship. In the rest of the article, I’ll be reviewing all the top five teams in the league.

In first place is Chelsea, they have shown great strength and consistency over the past eight games with all the fixtures ending up in a win. Although many people have said that if Diego Costa or Eden Hazard get injured, that Chelsea will slowly fall down the table. Despite the fact that they may drop a couple of points, I disagree with that opinion as Chelsea have a lot of depth with Victor Moses and Willian to cover Hazard, and Michy Batshuayi to cover Costa.

In second is Liverpool, they were in very good form heading into the transfer season, but with the recent injury of Philippe Coutinho they dropped a few points but are now finding their feet with the 1-0 win over Everton at the Goodison Park. In my belief Liverpool are very good at scoping out young talent for cheap prices, a few of examples are the 10million transfer of Philippe Coutinho from Inter in 2013, Divock Origi for 12million Lille in 2015 and Emre Can for 12million in 2014 from Bayer Leverkusen. I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will be looking for any new talents this winter.

In third is Manchester City, at the beginning of the season everyone thought they were easily going to win the title as they were easily beating any team that played them and also with the win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, they were going to cruise to the championship. However, their consistency wasn’t as great as Chelsea’s and they started to lose a few important matches. Now with the transfer season just around the corner and the recent injury of Ilkay Gundogan, they’ll be looking to buy a couple of crucial talents to help secure their second Premier League title.

Back in fourth is Arsenal, they definitely have the ability and potential to be the top of the league, but have slipped when it comes to match time. Their attacking ability is brilliant at the moment with the inform Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil performing to the best of their ability. Arsene Wenger needs to improve and fix the weakness in the side and game plan, then they would be very hard to defeat. However Sanchez and Ozil have been in a lot of transfer talks and news, they will need to fill the massive holes that both players filled if they do leave.

In fifth is Tottenham Hotspur, they are a very strong side that have always been the underdog for the title race and have come close a couple of times. With the inform Heung-Min Son, Christian Eriksen and goal-scoring machine Harry Kane, they will be very hard to break down. Also with the transfer window just a few days away they’ll be looking to strengthen their side to have a better shot at the championship.  Tottenham will be very strong in a couple of years as their average age in their squad is 23.

It will be very interesting and tight in the next half of the season. If you liked the article please drop a like and leave a comment on what you want me to post and be free to write your own opinion on the title race.  Ignore the tags
